Meet Brenda L. Davis, MA, LPC, RPT-Supervisor, CSAC
Hi, I’m Brenda Davis, the Founder and Clinical Director of Stepping Stones Counseling Services. My journey in the counseling field began more than 20 years ago with a deep passion to support, encourage, and help people discover their strengths and true potential.
I earned my B.S. in Psychology from Old Dominion University and my M.A. in Community Christian Counseling from Regent University. After many years of experience in the mental health field, I opened the doors to Stepping Stones Counseling Services in May 2010 in Franklin, Virginia. Since then, we’ve grown to include a second location in Chesapeake (Western Branch) in 2019 and a third in North Carolina in 2022.
I serve as a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor for Residents, a Registered Play Therapist–Supervisor, a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor.
I work with children as young as two, adolescents, and adults on a wide range of concerns, including parenting, autism, ADD/ADHD, mood disorders, and relationship challenges. My goal is to help individuals, couples, and families break free from the bondage of anxiety, anger, and depression so they can live with greater peace and purpose. I use a variety of evidence-based and creative approaches tailored to each client’s unique needs drawing from CBT, Play Therapy, EMDR, Christian Counseling, Solution-Focused Therapy, Marital Therapy, Trauma Therapy, and Sandtray techniques.
When I’m not in the office, you’ll likely find me scrapbooking, camping, or spending time with my husband, Mike, and our son, Preston—along with our two dogs, two cats, and a bearded dragon! My husband and I also have the joy of serving on the Missions Task Force at our church in Suffolk, Virginia.
At Stepping Stones, I believe in meeting people where they are, offering hope, and helping them take meaningful steps toward healing—one step at a time.
